Punta del Este Food & Wine Festival

About the tour

Punta del Este, in the southern east coast of Uruguay, is famous for its wide Atlantic beaches and glamorous parties. Some of the best chefs in the region have opened restaurants in this beach town, which is quickly emerging as a foodie destination.

One of the best foodies’ festivals with a grand finale. Punta del Este Food and Wine Festival is held every year between October/November and is one of the best foodies’ festivals in Punta del Este. The festival brings together the best and most renowned chefs not only from Uruguay, but from other countries as well: Spain, Brazil, Argentina, and United States. This festival takes place in various hotels and sites in Punta del Este and apart from celebrating food and wine with the most delicious and mouthwatering dishes and drinks, it also includes various entertainment performances including concerts.

A true heaven for even the most demanding gourmands!

Each event highlights Uruguay’s local ingredients and each dish is paired with an Uruguayan wine. The country is an up and coming wine producer being recognized in international wine shows. Some wineries have resorted to recognized international wine maker consultants and have reached outstanding results.

The festival’s finale has always been hosted by the Argentinean chef Francis Mallmann in the nearby town of Garzon, the tiny rural town where he opened a hotel and a restaurant some years ago. Mallmann’s fame is built around cooking with fire and this is the perfect place to be a witness of his trademark “seven fires”. Seven fires includes: rescoldo, where he covers the ingredients with hot embers, and infiernillo, which means little hell, where food is placed in cast iron boxes between two levels of fires.

This festival is a great way to experience the true culture of the country and to get to know the ways of our people, so we have designed the following program including the best events of the festival and the must sees of Uruguay!
